John Watt, director of the strengthening communities department at Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) received an OBE in the New Year Honours list. The gong was awarded for services to community development and was accepted by Dr Watt on 'behalf of the whole team'.  In recent years his role at HIE has involved him in several high profile land buy-outs in the Highlands area.
