Maggie Fyffe, secretary of the Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust has received an MBE in the New Years honours list.

Maggie will be well known to many in the community land world for her work with the Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust which was formed in 1997. Since the successful community buy-out of the island, the trust has been involved in several developments on the island, including the recent electrification project. Maggie moved to the island in 1976 and has seen the island’s population grow over recent years as local people have begun to make their own futures.  Although delighted with the MBE she’s made it clear she feels it’s an award for everyone on the island, not just her.

You can find out more about the work of Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust through their website.
