The Community Retailing Network Ltd has a programme of support for community-owned shops in Scotland. Supported by funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the Co-operative Group and the Esmee Fairburn Foundation, the programme involves promoting community ownership and sign-posting practical support for new and existing shops.

As a demonstration of the success of community shops, the Uig community shop in Lewis will be presented as a case study at a Northern Periphery conference on Rural Retailing in November.
