Oh come on....humour me - of course an article on the Arisaig public conveniences has to have a cheesy title! The Arisaig Community Trust have taken over the running of the public toilets in the village and hope to buy them from Highland Council shortly.
In proof that community asset management can extend to all sorts of assets, the Community Trust have taken over the running of the toilets after the Council ear-marked them for closure. They're currently running them under a temporary licence whilst negotiating a sale contract with the Council. Despite receiving a grant towards the running costs the Trust will still need to do a substantial amount of fund-raising to break even. Let the 'spend a penny' jokes commence..........
