Applecross filling station launched

The newly refurbished Applecross filling station will be officially launched on Friday 23rd July. After receiving funding from the Big Lottery Growing Community Assets programme for new pumps and an electronic point of sale system (see previous article) the filling station can now operate 24 hours a day.  The limited turnover at the station meant that employing someone full time to staff the pumps wasn't a viable option, so the use of an electronic system with a credit card reader allows people to fill up whenever they need.  The management and administration of the station is carried out by volunteers from the Applecross Community Company.

You can read more about the launch in the Highlands and Islands Enterprise press release.
