The Assynt Foundation has secured funding for a £1.5million renovation project at Glencanisp lodge near Lochinver.

The money will go towards a range of improvements for the former hunting lodge, including the installation of new heating using a woodfuel boiler, a new kitchen and improvements to access to allow all-abilities usage.  Funding will also be used to employ a project coordinator who can support the work and market the lodge in the future.  The Foundation is also hoping to run a course in log scribing building techniques where trainees will help to construct a log building that can be used as a flexible workspace.  Funding for the project has come from the Big Lottery Fund and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

You can find out more about the lodge upgrade on the Assynt Foundation's website.
