Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) are seeking expressions of interest from communities who want to invest or engage in the development of renewable projects on the National Forest Estate Land.

FCS recently completed a  tendering exercise to allow private companies to develop wind and hydro on National Forest Estate Land.  They've also negotiated with their preferred developers to agree options for communities to be involved in the projects being taken forward.  If a community is interested in developing their own wholly owned wind or hydro project, there are specified deadlines for when they must have submitted an expression of interest (EOI) - the first of these deadlines is for hydro schemes in the Highlands, for which EOIs must be submitted by April 15th, 2011.   Communities who are interested in forming a joint venture or receiving community benefit through one of the commercial developers in their area should also complete the EOI form to flag up their views with the developer in question.
