Good news for Westray

The island of Westray in Orkney has been in the news recently, picking up both extra funding and a national award.
The Westray Community Housing Project, run by Energy Action Westray and the Westray Development Trust picked up first prize in the Energy Action Scotland awards 2010. They won £1,500 for their installation of ground source heat pumps and loft insulation which helped lift local houses out of fuel poverty.
And a few days later, Energy Action Westray heard that they'd received funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise to help towards their purchase of a farmstead for new premises. Their new centre will offer up to date information on climate change, insulation and renewable energy. You can read more about the group here.
