Changes to the Crofting Counties Agricultural Grant Scheme (CCAGS) will come into effect on 1st April, 2011.
In response to the Shucksmith Committee of Inquiry on Crofting, the CCAGS will now only be available to crofters, with non-crofters no longer eligible to apply. The scheme will be extended to cover the whole of the Highlands and Islands Enterprise area, but the Economic Status Test will be removed and both tenants and owner-occupiers will be treated equally. There will also be a 10% rise in grants to support new entrants into crofting.
