Back in June 2009, Richard Lochhead MSP announced an independent inquiry to look at how agriculture can be supported in Scotland in the future.

The inquiry is being chaired by Brian Pack OBE and will report to the Scottish Government on how financial support to agriculture and rural development can best be tailored to deliver sustainable economic growth.  The inquiry team is now seeking written submissions from interested parties, which need to be supplied by October 30th 2009.  They've highlighted a range of issues that they want respondents to consider, including the impact of land management on the natural environment; climate change; sustainable rural communities and economic and tourism benefits.  You can see their full list of questions and submit responses here.
