Scalpay Community Land Steering Group are to carry out a feasibility study into the potential transfer of ownership of the island.
They have appointed the Pool, the DTAS consultancy service, to carry out the work. STV covered this news article on 16th of January 2012 and mistakenly called it a buy-out. However the proposal from owner Fred Taylor is that the island would be transferred to the community at no cost, should the residents decide that they wish to do accept it.
