MSP support for hostile buyout

Three Highlands and Islands Labour MSPs have written to Roseanna Cunningham MSP asking her to approve the potential community buy-out of the Pairc estate in Lewis. As highlighted previously (see December 09 article) the Pairc buyout may have to proceed under Part 3 of the Land Reform Act, which is not dependent on the land being put up for sale.  The Pairc Trust submitted their Part 3 application forms to Scottish Ministers in early March.  Since then, the Labour MSPs have written to ask that there be no more technical barriers to progress and to urge the Environment Minister to support the community in their application.

You can read more about the developments to date on the Pairc Trust website.
