According to the Scotsman and Herald newspapers, the community council at Morvern Peninsula is exploring the possibility of a community buy-out of local land.

Until the end of last year, one of the area's main employers was a silica and sand mine in the village of Lochaline.  Now it's closed, locals are still hoping a new operator will be found, but they've also begun to look into community land ownership which might allow greater economic diversification.  The local community council plans to set up a steering group to investigate the options, including the potential for forestry and crofting developments.

You can find the Herald's full article on the community plans here.
