The UK Landshare campaign received some welcome publicity in the Scottish Parliament when Patrick Harvie (MSP for Glasgow) asked the Government to back the project. The campaign wants to bring together individuals, communities and landowners to share land in a way that enables people to grow their own food.
With allotments a rare commodity in most places, the Landshare team are looking for people who want to grow their own food but don't have access to land and people who have land that could be used for production. Their aim is to to make British land more productive and fresh local produce more accessible to all, but the scheme has yet to launch and its success depends on uptake by both growers and landowners.
