Alex Neil, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment, has launched Scotland's new regeneration strategy. The strategy sets out the Scottish government's approach to regeneration and seeks to put communities at the centre of the process. It includes a £175 million programme of investment to support the country's most disadvantaged communities, including a £50 million SPRUCE (Scottish Partnership for Regeneration in Urban Centres) Fund. The strategy has been welcomed by some community representatives but others have expressed concern that it lacks detail on how the process of genuinely community-led regeneration will be delivered.
