Almost a year ago, 20 “multi-activity” community land owning groups met on the Isle of Harris to discuss whether there was a demand for an organisation to represent the sector (see previous article).
A steering group was asked to survey potential members and associated organisations to establish the needs and aspirations of the people who own or intend to own the land on which they live and work.
The goal was to have 10 groups signed up to the new organisation before the inaugural General Meeting and, to date, 16 groups have subscribed to the group, which will now be incorporated as Community Land Scotland. The inaugural meeting will take place in Eden Court Theatre, Inverness starting at 11.30am on Tuesday 28th September.
The morning session will review the work carried out by the steering group followed by the formal part of setting up the organisation. In the afternoon the new Board of Community Land Scotland will meet for the first time. You can find out more by contacting David Cameron through his SCLN profile.
