Ministerial words suggest support for community land groups

Roseanna Cunningham MSP met with representatives of the community land sector this week and urged communities to register an interest in land to improve their chances of benfitting from the land reform legislation.

The environment minister made her comments in a press release put out after the meeting.  Disappointingly, there's no mention of any dedicated Government funding for community buy-outs coming onto the horizon.  During the meeting, the minister was presented with a report showing support for the idea of an organisation to represent community land-owning groups.  The report includes the results of a survey of community land organisations, producing a message that those involved in the sector feel that the land reform agenda has lost momentum.  The idea of a new organisation is certainly stirring up some comments, as you can see from Local People Leading's website.  If you've got comments or thoughts on the idea, or on the extent of Government support for the communtiy land sector, please post them on the forum.
