The Brian Pack inquiry into the future of agricultural funding in Scotland has published its interim report.
It suggests that future support should be focused in four main areas - direct payments, a top-up fund, rural development programme funding and Less Favoured Area (LFA) support. The report's being billed as a first stage in the process, with further consultation and evidence gathering due to take place before the final report is published in June 2010.
There's a focus in this report on direct payments and top-up funding, with more detailed comments on the rural devleopment programme funding expected in the final report. A series of consultation events are planned around the country during January and Feburary as part of the inquiry - to see a full list and download a copy of the report, click here.
