The newly appointed Bute Community Land Company has appointed an architect to work on the forest design, despite asking them to do some of the work for free.
In a move that might go some way to dispel the 'them and us' mentality, Neil Sutherland Architects have won the procurement process to complete an architectural masterplan for the forest. Controversially, the tender brief asked architects to complete the masterplan for free, " if awarded the architectural commission for the resultant design work in the forest". It's an innovative way of getting private sector expertise whilst still allowing businesses to survive and maybe demonstrates that not all consultants are focused solely on the money!
