Galson Estate on Lewis will receive funding of over £140k from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to contribute towards a new multi-functional business centre.

The new building will provide office space for the Galson Estate Trust (Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn) as well as additional space for community groups and room for regular croft markets for local producers.  Plans also include three wind turbines, plus an additional turbine attached to the building.  The development is part of a wider project for the area and construction work is expected to start in the autumn.  Other funders include Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Leader, Community Energy Scotland, Climate Challenge Fund, BIG Lottery Fund and private donations.

You can read more about the Galson Estate Trust on their website.
