Please read and take heed of the following terms and conditions. It is a requirement that you accept these before subscribing to the newsletter or using the 'networking' features of this website.
Registering with SCotLaNd
- When registering, a valid email address has to be used. Disposable email addresses are not permitted. If found, we will remove the account in question.
- Please complete as much personal information as you feel comfortable sharing with others WITHIN the network. We WILL NOT share your personal or contact details with anyone outside the network, except where obliged to do so by law.
- Please choose an appropriate picture if you wish to upload one - remember that this network is used by people from all walks of life, and others could be offended.
- Please choose your options for the regular newsletter, which will be sent to the email address that you have used in registering.
- Please enjoy your time in SCotLaNd!
Communicating with others in the Network
- This network exists for the purpose of promoting and supporting Community Land Initiatives in Scotland. Please use it for this purpose only.
- Please do not use the network to solicit any services.
- Please report any inappropriate behaviour from others and we will investigate and take action where necessary, including the suspension or deletion of accounts.
The use of SCotLaNd Forum
- Please do feel free to express your opinions, but respect those of others.
- Please be courteous in all your posts. Language deemed to be personally offensive will be censored and/or the posts removed. This may lead to suspension of your account.
- Please keep all posts on-topic.
- Please do not pretend to be/represent somebody else. Your membership will be deleted if found to be in breach of this rule.
- Please do not discuss illegal activities. Our server is hosted in the UK and is subject to English law. Please do not expose us to any unnecessary legal liability.
- If you have a question, please check that it has not been answered anywhere else on the site. Use the search feature.
- Please post your comment/question to the most appropriate place. Any posts deemed to be in the wrong forum will be moved. Do not cross-post the same question to multiple places.
- Please make sure you have read the parent article/post completely before posting a reply.
- Use your own words. If you wish to use the words of somebody else, quote them, citing the source. Plagiarism is unethical and is illegal in many countries.
- Please choose an appropriate subject line. Try to summarise the issue briefly in the subject, and elaborate in the message itself. Repeat the subject in the body if it will make things clearer. Do not use all capital letters and do not add false information just to get attention (e.g. ;read this or you will be arrested;). Do not use a web link as a thread title.
- Thank those who help you. Acknowledgement of a helpful suggestion not only placates those who helped you, it may also help others with a similar problem. All those who have been helped on this forum are invited to help other users by responding to their questions when they have a useful perspective.
- Do not link to any site that contains adult content, sexually oriented material or might otherwise be considered offensive. Any post containing an inappropriate link will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning.
- Do not propose/link to any site that contains copyrighted software/materials that can be downloaded illegally.
