A few funding options (some more developed than others):
The Scottish Government has confirmed that there will be another £250,000 in the Community Seedcorn Fund in the next financial year (2012/13). This fund is run by Forestry Commission Scotland and provides grants to encourage small-scale woodland projects which benefit communities. You can find further details here.
The Central Scotland Forest Trust has a grant fund aimed at encouraging volunteer projects. Groups can apply for up to £7,500 for projects which will create or increase volunteering activities in the Central Scotland Forest area. You can find more information here.
And in the longer term, the UK Government has confirmed that Scotland's share of the Fossil Fuel Levy will be released to the Scottish Government for funding renewable energy projects. The share is expected to be around £103 million, although there is no detail yet on how it might be distributed. You can read the Scottish Government's press release here.
