Trio of funds for the third sector

Launched this week, the Scottish Government's Third Sector Enterprise Fund joins the Social Entrepreneurs Fund and the Scottish Investment Fund as a trio of support for the sector.

The fund is part of the Government's three strand approach to supporting the voluntary and not-for-profit sector.  The first or 'earliest-intervention' strand is the Social Entrepreneurs Fund, which aims to assist individuals who want to set up and run a business with a social or environmental purpose.  The fund will provide financial and business support to help these new enterprises get started.

At the opposite end of the spectrum is the Scottish Investment Fund, targeted at established third sector organisations that have been in business for at least three years.  And in the middle comes the Third Sector Enterprise Fund, which will will offer between £25,000 and £100,000 to organisations that want to build their capacity, capability and financial sustainability.  You can find out more about the types of things they're hoping to fund by looking at the Third Sector Enterprise Fund Investment Strategy, available here.  More information on all three funds, including how to apply can be found on the Scottish Government's website at http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/People/15300/funding
