The Prince's Countryside Fund is currently open for applications, whilst a new fund has launched in rural Ayrshire. There's also an update on the LEADER and the Rural Priorities strands of the Scotland Rural Development Programme.

The Prince's Countryside Fund supports projects which improve the sustainability of British farming, rural communities and reconnect people with the countryside.  Grants of up to £50,000 are available but the closing date for the current round of funding is October 14th, 2011.  You can find further details here.

The rural Ayrshire renewable energy fund has £320,000 available for Ayrshire communities who want to develop renewable energy projects.  The funding has to be spent by March 2012 and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.  You can get further information through Community Energy Scotland.

A new guide to the Scottish LEADER programme has been produced, which you can download from the National Rural Network website.

The Rural Priorities section of the Scotland Rural Development Programme website contains some slightly ominous sounding updates on future funding.  As you can read for yourself here, an announcement on future funding rounds will be made after the Scottish Government's spending plans are revealed - these will apparently be 'an important consideration in determining the availability of funding'.
