Development fund for community housing

Recognising that affordable housing is still a problem in much of the UK, the Community Land Trust Development fund has been set up to support emerging community land trusts who want to take forward housing projects.

The fund is divided into three areas - a feasibility fund which provides consultancy support to establish an initial concept note; a technical assistance fund for further development; pre-development funding and development finance providing capital loans.  An interactive website has also been set up so that trusts which receive funding can network with each other and build on the lessons learnt in each area.  The main contributors to the fund are the Esmee Fairburn Foundation and the Tudor Trust, and they hope that their initial donations will be sufficient to support 30 trusts and lead to the construction of around 150 affordable homes over the next 4 years.
