Asset transfer to local communities has taken a step forward in Wales with the establishment of a dedicated funding source. The Welsh Assembly and the Big Lottery Fund (BLF) have set up a £13million community asset transfer fund, designed to help Welsh community groups acquire and develop public buildings. The funding to acquire buildings is coming from the Assembly, whlist the funding for further development and renovation will come from BLF, who will also manage the application process. Will anything similar ever transpire in Scotland?
