Seaboard Memorial Hall
9th and 10th November 2010
Seaboard Memorial Hall was the place to be early in November when a seminar was held for groups involved in acquiring or managing buildings on behalf of their local community. It was part of a series of seminars on the theme of Maximising Your Assets organised and financed by the Community Assets Team (formerly known as Community Land Unit) of Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
This seminar looked at everything a community group needs to think about before taking on a building and running it for the benefit of the whole community. Of course, there’s a long history of communities in the Highlands and Islands running their own buildings, especially village halls. But this event was really designed to look at making sure the building remains an asset and doesn’t become a liability.
We have included presentations from the seminar and some guidance about how to go about the process of acquiring assets for your community.
