Hello and welcome to the February edition of the Scottish Community Land Network newsletter. Yes, we've burrowed back out from beneath the snow; my legs have almost recovered from all the cross country skiing and maybe there's just the tiniest hint of spring in the air. So as we all drag ourselves out from winter hibernation, here's another selection of articles, events and forum postings to keep you up to date with the world of community land.
This month we've added two new features to the site. Firstly, the Community Land Unit (CLU) staff at Highlands and Islands Enterprise have agreed to provide a virtual surgery service on our forum - we're calling it 'Give us a CLU'. So, if you have any community land questions for them, post them on the forum and they'll respond so the answers will be there for everyone to see and use. And if they don't know the answer, they'll find someone who does. I was hoping they'd be able to answer my question about braking on skis, but it turns out that's not really community land related, so it looks like I'm back to my 'ski into a tree' approach. Ho hum.
We've also added a poll called Your View, so we can find out what's hot and what's not. We're starting out with a simple question about the success, or otherwise, of the community right to buy. It's a topic that's close to all of our hearts and we're sure you're bound to have an opinion. There's a background paper on what the right to buy is all about in case you need reminding, but otherwise, get clicking and let us know whether you think or not it's been a roaring success or a complete dodo.
That's all for now. Happy reading and hope to see you on the site soon.
Best wishes, Tamsin Morris & Chris York
